Weatherboards / Cladding: A New Option

We have been busy working away at trying to establish a "certified appraised solution" for weather boards and being a small company with limited resources the sheer cost of getting BRANZ and or other approvals seemed HUGE.

We did get quotes from BRANZ and then later from Codemark certifiers and the cost put us off. In the end we decided we should go ahead and so decided if we were to do the job we should do it properly. BRANZ Appraisals are in fact according to the Dept of Housing and Building not "Appraisals" but rather an opinion. We decided for the cost involved we wanted something better and decided on "Codemark".
To this end we are nearly at the end of an exhaustive process which will enable us to offer the FIRST Codemark Certified timber cladding solution. This allows automatic approval by all Territorial Authorities in NZ. We will be offering this in pre primed Pine, Western Red Cedar as well as Accoya. As a bonus we will offer the Pine as FSC certified, the Cedar as PEFC (some FSC) and the Accoya as FSC.

The system, for which, we are audited annually, is available on our new web site www.certclad.co.nz  this provides an easy to use access with all the necessary CAD drawings, as well as installation manuals. Pricing is very competitive.

We are working now on the Vertical System with that to be completed early in 2012. Check out the article about our system that was published today in "Codewords" the Department of Building and Housing's newsletter .http://a.smartmailpro.com/webv/4jycmnir22

The new CertClad website looks great.  If you are considering timber weatherboards for your next cladding job, be sure to check it out and see how CodeMark Certification will help.

Timspec launched 2 weeks ago our Codemark certified weather board system. This will initially only be for Bevel Back, but we hope to have a rustic and vertical solution certified by the end of March 2012. Codemark is a Dept of Building & Housing approved scheme.

In the Timber Importing business we are seeing some real changes. The fear of a Worldwide recession has impacted on prices and supply (read more in the timber stocks section). The impact of removing illegally supplied tropical hardwoods is seeing prices spike for many durable hardwoods.

Johnny Dobbyn did a great job of getting a showcase project and completing it on time in Accoya for Bus Shelters on K Rd in Auckland. The result speaks for itself. Accoya was used as a stable durable timber to give some warmth to an otherwise steel and glass structure.

This is our first e-newsletter, and has been in the pot being put together for sometime. The format is pretty much as before but gives us more ability to manage the content and format ourselves. Xmas hours as follows

USA Hardwoods are making in roads here in terms of increased market share. The impact of great product and cheap prices is driving demand towards these well known species.

We expect the Christchurch re-build to gather pace. Overall the issue we face is that building is at a 46 year low. General confidence and spending is low, meaning people are being careful about spending. We have two new staff and 3 babies arriving to start us on our way for the Year.

Timspec have been working with Saligna for in excess of 15 years but we have rarely been able to boast such good stocks and supply. A good NZ sourced and sustainable option.
