Staff News

Staff in Auckland saw a number of changes and we lost a few valuable members , but had the fortune to find some great new members. Our new look Accounts team has been changed yet again with Shefali Goyal leaving to progress her Accounting career and Christopher Wong joining us. Jeff Hughes our Financial Controller has moved his team upstairs in the office.  Simon Petrie and his team in the warehouse have been extremely busy with lots of imports hitting us all at once. We are pleased to see most of it as stocks have been hit hard with strong sales across the board. The sales guys are still busy and still fielding lots of calls for stock now and into the New Year.  This is kind of a wee bit unusual and we should be grateful.

In Christchurch the team is flat out, a record year down South with some serious jobs starting  to show there is real work taking place. It has taken a long time to get going, but the re build in terms of Commercial and medium- high end houses has started. Gareth is building his own house (well he has Builders doing most of it) and is close to moving in after 4 plus years of getting by. Gareth available on cell from Tuesday 5th if needed.

Christchurch Showroom up and working

Christchurch Showroom up and working

The Christchurch team looking forward to a well earned break after a busy and productive 15 months at our new premises in Francella St, Bromley.

Our Sales office and showroom has some great displays of decking and weather board solutions and we are aiming to further showcase our range of solid T&G flooring options with some larger panels early next year.

Dave has been with us nearly a year now and has been working hard to better inform our joinery and furniture manufacturers of the options available, he will be taking over the Nelson/Blenheim area from January so expect a call.

Stephen is busy as usual looking after our building trade customers and has some large commercial/architectural projects to keep him fully occupied.

AJ and I just width sorted 5 random packs of Ash for a 1100 L/M 6x1 T&G flooring job.

Oak and Ash stock has been tight for us in Chch but we are now fully restocked in Comsel Oak 25/40/50mm as well as Ash FAS 25/40/50/75mm.

Good stocks of kwila 90x19 and 140x19 decking heading into the new year.

And Blackbutt, class 1 durable, non bleeding and pre oiled for convenience.

Thanks to all for the support and valued orders this year, we are looking forward to a busy 2016 and hope the same for all of you.

Shane and his team in Carterton are winding up the year very busy as we catch up with Cedar and try to catch up with Radiata and Rosewood. Stocks which have been thrashed during the year.  A lot of hard physical work re sawing and filleting and defilleting.

Supply chains are groaning at demand for key items. The growth in demand after the GFC has been slow and has seen a large number of sawmills here in NZ and elsewhere close and go broke. This is leading to shortages in supply as the remaining suppliers struggle to cope.

Data we see coming through suggest continuing demand for building materials and weather boards as an example are flying out the door. So prospects for Building Supply merchants should be okay.
